About Us

Julie’s love for horses began at just five years old, when a spirited trail ride ended with her pony galloping back to the barn—her laughter trailing behind. Not long after, she purchased her first pony for $50, with her parents covering the $100 monthly board. She spent her early years trail riding until college briefly took her away from horses.

Life’s next chapter brought a husband and six children, whom she shared her equestrian passion with. Julie’s journey continued into the hunter ring, where she trained and showed with respected names such as Lynn Redig, John and Stephanie Knepps, Jonathan Stables, and currently Mary Konu of Linu Lakes, along with participating in several clinics.

In 2005, Julie embraced dressage with her horse, Flynn, further expanding her equestrian expertise. Today, she teaches Western, English Jumpers, and Dressage, continuing to inspire and guide riders of all levels.

Julie takes great pride in watching her students grow—not just as skilled riders, but as confident, passionate individuals.

Mary Konu is an experienced rider and trainer based at Brookside Stables in Hugo, MN. With a passion for developing both horse and rider, Mary brings clear, goal-oriented instruction to every clinic, specializing in the hunter ring. Her teaching emphasizes correct use of aids to build balance, impulsion, and a compassionate connection with the horse.

Mary offers professional rides, lessons, clinics, and training services, and is known for her direct, effective teaching style paired with a fun, approachable personality. She actively competes for Brookside, showing client horses at various levels in the hunter/jumper circuit. When she's not in the ring, Mary enjoys spending time with her cats and riding her own horse.

Liz Lamm began her dressage journey in the 1970s as a working student under Chuck Grant (Father of American Dressage). Her passion for the sport led her to manage respected stables such as Liberty Hill Stables and Three Gaits in Stoughton.

With decades of experience, Liz enjoys teaching riders and training horses of all breeds and backgrounds. She has shown through Prix St. Georges and ridden Grand Prix movements in clinics with renowned trainers including Lois Heyerdahl, Bo Jena, and Heather Wilson Roller. Liz is also a USDF Certified Judge with Distinction.

Currently, Liz shares her expertise through lessons at Bit-N-Bridle, Rivendell, and Three Witches, continuing to inspire and educate dressage enthusiasts of all levels.
